Which version should you use?

All three are the same CashBook, signed into with the same phone number and showing the same businesses, books and entries. Nothing is exported or copied between them. The differences are about where you are standing when you use it.

PlatformHow you get itWorth knowing
AndroidGoogle PlayCan capture entries offline and sync them when connectivity returns.
iPhone and iPadApp StoreThe same account and books as every other platform.
Web browserNothing to installOpens in any modern browser; can be added to your home screen so it runs in its own window.

In practice most businesses use two: a phone at the counter for recording as money moves, and a browser on a computer for reviewing entries, managing who can see which book, and reading reports on a screen big enough to take them in.

Common questions

Do I need to install the app, or can I use CashBook in a browser?
Either. CashBook runs fully in a browser with nothing to install, and there are native apps for Android and iPhone. The same account and the same books work across all of them, so you can record on a phone and review on a computer.
Can I use the same account on more than one device?
Yes. Sign in with the same phone number on each device and your businesses, books and entries are there. Nothing needs to be exported or copied between devices.
What happens if my phone has no internet?
The Android app can save entries on your device and retry syncing when connectivity returns, so a weak signal at the counter does not stop you recording. Sync and approval are separate states — an entry that has synced has not necessarily been approved yet.
Do I have to install anything to use the web app?
No. It opens in any modern browser. If you would like it to behave like an app, most browsers will let you add it to your home screen or install it, after which it opens in its own window without the browser bars.
Which version should I use?
Use the phone app for recording during the day, since it is quickest at the counter and works on Android even without a signal. Use the web app on a computer for reviewing entries, managing members and reading reports on a bigger screen. Most businesses use both.
